The councils of A Estrada and Forcarei are the scene these days of a massive pilgrimage along the Camiño Xacobeo Miñoto Ribeiro. Within the framework of the European Youth Pilgrimage (PEJ 22), which will reach Santiago between July 3 and 7, half a thousand young people from various countries have set out on the Camiño Miñoto Ribeiro route. They have done so organized in small groups that began to arrive in the region on Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday there was the greatest influx of young people through the Forcaricense and Estradense sections of the route and today the transit is expected to continue. The councils of Forcarei and A Estrada ceded the Soutelo de Montes and O Foxo school pavilions so that walkers could spend the night in the area and clean up before continuing on their way to Compostela. The young pilgrims come from places such as Madrid, Catalonia, Valencia, the Canary Islands, the Basque Country, Murcia, France, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, Venezuela and Dubai, among others. This Tuesday morning several groups crossed the municipality of Estrada and reached the Council of Vedra, where they were received by the mayor, Carlos Martínez, at the entrance to the Sarandón bridge, which separates the municipality of Estrada from A Coruña, who is very dedicated to promoting this route.
